Hot Trip to Heaven is the fifth Love and Rockets album, released in 1994 after a five-year break.
For this album, the band took a more electronic approach while still retaining some of their past trippier elements. Natacha Atlas's contributions to the album give it some slight world music vibes.
The LA Times said that with Hot Trip to Heaven, "the group demonstrated that the suave, gritty pop it's cultivated is as effective stretched across wide, ambient spaces as it is compressed into more concise, rock-related forms" and Westword called it "a masterpiece ahead of it's time."
