Voodoo Queens BBC Radio Sessions
The second session from the BBC Radio Sessions Volume 2 Boxset is from Voodoo Queens. They were a North London riot grrrl band signed to too pure records and one of the few bands fronted by a South Asian woman at the time. Formed in 1992, they disbanded in 1999 having released one full length album and several singles.
John Peel discovered them when they were touring with Cornershop and was so impressed by their brief set, comparing them to The Slits, that he immediately invited them for a session. This ode to Keanu Reeves is from that Jan. 1993 session.
